The Ford Rotunda

Burned down 1962

The Ford Rotunda once one of the biggest Tourist Attractions in the US, was built in 1933 for the 1934 World Fair as Ford did not participate in the 1933 World Fair. The Architect behind the famed structure was no other then the famed Albert Khan. In 1936 it was moved to Dearborn MI from Chicago and opened to the public it was popular for it’s Christmas events and was where Ford Photographed new vehicles for the year. On November 9th, 1962 in preparation for the 1962 Christmas Event a fire began on the roof of the Rotunda shortly after 1pm and by 1:55pm the Roof of the Rotunda Collapsed. Though the full Fire Department of Dearborn attempted to put out the fire the building was considered a total loss and Ford never rebuilt. Though the name Rotunda Dr. found in Dearborn is named after the famed structure to this day.
